MARYSVILLE — The Abilene Cowboys fought the wind as much as the golf course to place second and third at the Marysville Invitational Tuesday.

Abilene’s Casey Sexton was second medalist shooting an 81 and Justin Linn was fourth with an 84. Add in an86 by Jacob Harms and a 91 by Thomas Cooper and the Cowboys 342 four-man score was second behind Nemaha Valley with 341.

Justin Carroll shot 98 and Ryan Kreutzer shot 103 for a six-man score of 542, third behind Concordia with 528 and Nemaha Valley with 531.

“The scores were a little higher today. For the first time all year, the wind blew pretty good,” said Abilene coach Mark Willey. “We are still struggling to put together two good nines. Casey’s 37 on the back was a great score.

“Justin only had one six on his card, so he was the most consistent,” he added. “We will go back to Marysville on Monday for league, hopefully we can improve.”

For Chapman, Josh Chewning tied Harms with an 86 for ninth medalist. Bryce Winters also shot 93. Aaron Parham shot 105 and Zach Harris shot 108.
