The Cowgirls’ defense also had its woes with seven errors in the first game and eight in the second.
In the first game Abilene’s three runs came in three different innings. Stacy Hanson led off the top of the second with a single and scored on a double by Aldyn Wildey. Karina Anderson led off the fifth with a double and scored on a double by Allyne Clark. Clark scored with two outs in the top of the seventh.
Wildey took the loss in a complete game. She gave up 10 hits and struck out four. She walked two.
Sophomore Dani Fincham pitched game one for Marsyville. She gave up eight hits and struck out seven.
The Cowgirls scored all four runs in the third inning of game two. Shay Hoekman reached first on an error followed by a single by Anderson, and RBI single by Alise Murray and an RBI single by Clark. All four scored.
Marysville scored four runs in the first inning and fourth in the sixth.
Jenna Klein started the game on the mound for Abilene but was relieved by Wildey. She struck out three and walked just two.
Fincham pitched game two for Marysville. She gave up six hits and stuck out five.
The Cowgirls, 5-7, are off this week. They will host Chapman on Tuesday, May 1.
The Cowgirls won both junior varsity games, 18-4, 15-1.
Jenna Klein received the win for Abilene and Jamie Freiderich scored a save.
Mallory Olberding won game two and Freiderich got another save in game two.
