From Patsy Cline to Lady Antebellum, competitors in Sunday night’s Country Showdown gave a great show at the Central Kansas Free Fair.

For more than an hour, 19 acts — seven in youth division and a dozen adults — took the stage and gave their best.

Not even a short rain shower could keep competitors, or the audience away.

Dark clouds brought on a short shower just as Cody Taylor, Youngsville, La., and the second place winner in the youth division left the stage and throughout the performance of Derek Knopp of Chapman.

Winners announced at the end of the competition, were:

Youth:

First place: Shayla Winters, Woodbine, winner of $200; second place, Cody Taylor, Youngsville, La., won $150 and third place, Chance Berndt, Herington, winner of $100.

Adult division:

First place: Katie Steinert, Abilene, winner of $500; second place, Danielle Ridder and Shonna Nely, both of Abilene, winners of $250, and third place: Melissa Ford, Abilene, winner of $100.

A people’s choice was awarded, based on cash put in a jar by the audience.

They were: adult: Matt Krinhop, Chapman, and youth: Cody Taylor, Youngsville, La.
