Marguerite was born Dec. 2, 1914, near Florence to Barney and Dollie (Louis) Van Buren.
She was united in marriage to Glenn Blatchford on Jan. 21, 1942. They moved to Abilene in March 1942, where she was the office manager for Ronald Rice Motors before retiring in 1977. Marguerite was the treasurer for the Abilene Country Club for many years.
She was a member of the original Chapter of Beta Sigma Pi for over 60 years and also belonged to the Ladies Literary League in Abilene, the book club and bridge club. Marguerite was an avid golfer and counted her hole-in-one as a major life accomplishment.
Survivors include sisters, Betty Varner of San Bruno, Calif., and Patricia Starkel of El Dorado; brother, Fred Van Buren of Sammamish, Wash.; one niece and numerous nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn; sister, Virginia Wagner; and brother, George Van Buren.
Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 31, at St. John’s Catholic Church in El Dorado. The recitation of the rosary will precede the Mass at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be 2:30 p.m. at the Abilene Cemetery.
