Don’t miss the action when the Hippie Hound Wiener Dog Jog at the Abilene Fairgrounds is held on Saturday, May 19.
This is the third year this event has occurred at Flour Power, a festival sponsored by Memorial Health Foundation.
Wiener dog owners are invited to enter the event. Fans are invited to watch the fun. Either way, you’ll have a great time laughing and cheering for the competitors.
Registration for the event begins at 8:30 a.m. with the races starting at 9 a.m. As long as the dog looks like a wiener dog, he or she is eligible to enter.
Owners need to be sure that their dog has had all of the required shots, and dogs must be on a leash when not racing. All rules and registration forms are available at www.caringforyou.org/-flour/ by clicking on “Wiener Dog Jog.” Pre-registration is $20 (must be postmarked by May 10) and day-of registration is $25.
The number of heats in the race will depend on the number of dogs entered. The winner of each heat will compete in the final heat. Prizes will be awarded, and each entrant will receive a goody bag and a t-shirt from the sponsors, Abilene Animal Hospital and Paws-N-Claws. Late registrations will not be guaranteed a race t-shirt.
A Dog Fashion Show for any breed of dog will be held between the Wiener Dog Jog heats.
